Crystal structure, control experiments, and plausible pathway of catalysis: (a) supramolecular structure of the dimeric 2(CoMo6∙Cl); (b) control experiments: (1) the addition of TEMPO or BHT, (2) in Ar atmosphere, (3) benzyl alcohol used as substrate under the optimum reaction condition, (4) benzaldehyde used as substrate directly for 24 h, and (5) benzaldehyde used as substrate directly for 36 h; (c) plausible pathway for the Co-catalyzed oxidative esterification reaction.
