Alloying Bi2Te3 and Bi2Se3 significantly reduces the lattice thermal conductivity in comparison to the pure binaries and the ordered Bi2Te2Se phase [8, 9, 12, 16]. The absolute values of thermal conductivity (a) vary substantially among studies so the data is normalized to , Vegard’s law interpolation between the lattice thermal conductivity of Bi2Te3 and Bi2Te2Se and between Bi2Te2Se and Bi2Se3 (b). Mass contrast alone nearly describes the trend between Bi2Te2Se and Bi2Se3; however, the lattice thermal conductivity Bi2Te3 and Bi2Te2Se requires considerations of strain or bonding changes at least an order of magnitude higher.
