Endothelium-Mimicking Multifunctional Coating Modified Cardiovascular Stents via a Stepwise Metal-Catechol-(Amine) Surface Engineering Strategy

Figure 2

Amine-rich metal-catechol-(amine) surface coating for NO generation. (a) Schematic illustration of the one-step assembly of MCAN-based coatings on a 316L SS cardiovascular stents. Phenolic compound (dopamine (DA) and HD) and Cu2+ are chosen for preparing NO-generating coatings. By mixing CuII, DA, and HD, the cardiovascular stent is facilely coated with CuII-DA/HD film. (b) Images of 316L SS and CuII-DA/HD coatings modified 316L SS with increasing CuCl2 feeding concentrations. The concentrations of CuCl2 were set at 0, 12.5, 25, 37.5, and 50 μg/mL, respectively. (c) The thickness and (d) surface amine group density of the CuII-DA/HD coatings with increasing CuCl2 feeding concentrations. (e) The atomic content of Cu of the CuII-DA/HD coatings with increasing CuCl2 feeding concentrations obtained from XPS results. Data shown as the ().
