Quantifying Information via Shannon Entropy in Spatially Structured Optical Beams

The Wigner distribution functions (WDFs) of one-dimensional (1D) Hermite-Gauss (HG) mode of zero-order (Gaussian) and first-order as functions of -wave vector (5), and -coordinate in the beam’s transverse plane. One can see that in the case of the Gaussian mode, the WDF is positive, while for the first-order HG mode, there is a negative contribution in the near-zero region of the phase space.
