Portrait of Zezhou Sun Zezhou Sun

Dr. Sun is the Designer-in-chief of the probe systems of Chang’E-3, Chang’E-4, and Tianwen-1. As a senior researcher from China Academy of Space Technology, he has devoted years of research in Moon and deep space exploration and related engineering practices. Major projects and models led by Dr. Sun has all witnessed successful debut. His contributions include completing the first soft landing on the far side of the moon, patrol and exploration on the surface of the moon, and the successive tasks of “Orbiting, landing and detection” on Mars.

Dr. Sun has made breakthroughs throughout the research fields in lunar-orbiting, soft landing, and lunar patrolling. He has been granted the IAF World Space Award by The International Astronautical Federation as an acknowledgement of his commitment to space technology.

Portrait of Wei Rao Wei Rao

Dr. Rao is a senior researcher from China Academy of Space Technology and also member of the Space Intelligence Committee, Chinese Society of Space Research.

His research focuses on spacecraft and probe design and development for deep space exploration. Dr. Rao is also the designer-in-chief of Chang’E-1, as well as the deputy designer-in-chief of Chang’E-2 and China’s Mars probes.
